Action Taken Against Unlicensed Firecracker Sales in Delhi | Babarpur Shop Sealed, SDM Issues Stern Warning
Authorities in Delhi have intensified their crackdown on
illegal firecracker sales ahead of the
Diwali festival. In a recent operation, a shop in Babarpur was sealed after
officials discovered it was selling firecrackers without the necessary license.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) personally led the inspection and directed
immediate action against the violators. This move comes as part of the city’s
ongoing efforts to reduce pollution and ensure the safety of residents during
the festive season.
According to RD News Network, local enforcement teams have
been instructed to conduct regular raids in areas known for firecracker sales.
Officials stated that selling or storing firecrackers without a valid license
is a punishable offense under the Explosives Act. The SDM warned that any
individual or trader found violating the rules will face strict penalties,
including legal action and the permanent sealing of their shops. RD News Network also reported that
authorities are working closely with police departments and pollution control
boards to ensure complete compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives on
firecracker use.
Residents have been urged to buy only certified “green”
firecrackers from authorized dealers to prevent accidents and reduce air
pollution. The Delhi government has reiterated its commitment to creating a
safer and cleaner Diwali for all citizens. With increased vigilance and public
cooperation, officials aim to discourage illegal activities and promote
environmental awareness during the festival of lights.
