Kudmi community protests halt train operations, alter routes from Rajdhani Express to Duronto

The Kudmi community’s ongoing agitation has once again brought rail operations to a standstill, causing significant disruption across major routes. According to RD News Network, several premium trains, including Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express, were forced to either halt midway or be diverted through alternative routes. Passengers faced long delays, while railway officials worked round the clock to manage the situation.

Protesters from the Kudmi community blocked railway tracks at multiple locations, demanding their recognition under the Scheduled Tribe category and inclusion in constitutional benefits. This has been a longstanding demand, and the community has staged similar agitations in the past, but the latest protest has led to massive chaos for travelers. With both passenger and freight trains affected, the Indian Railways faced operational challenges and heavy financial losses.

Authorities confirmed that Rajdhani Express services had to be diverted through longer routes, while Duronto Express schedules were altered, leading to delays of several hours. The disruption has also impacted interstate connectivity, affecting not just regular commuters but also business and trade activities.

Police and railway security personnel were deployed in large numbers to ensure safety, but the protestors remained firm on their demands. Passengers expressed frustration as they waited for hours at stations without clear updates. Officials are urging patience, stating that efforts are underway to negotiate with community leaders.

The Kudmi protest highlights the recurring tension between community demands and government response. As reported by RD News Network, if a resolution is not reached soon, similar disruptions could continue in the coming weeks, further straining the railway system and inconveniencing thousands of passengers daily.
