Ajit Pawar threatened a female IPS over the phone, Athawale said – Deputy CM later admitted his mistake
Maharashtra politics has once again come under the spotlight
after a shocking
revelation involving Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Union Minister of
State for Social Justice and Republican Party of India (RPI) leader, Ramdas
Athawale, claimed that Pawar allegedly threatened a female IPS officer over the
phone regarding a sensitive matter. The incident has triggered heated debates across
political circles and raised concerns about the treatment of officers in
service.
According to Athawale, the senior IPS officer was
pressurized by Pawar during a telephonic conversation. The tone and words used
by the Deputy CM reportedly caused distress to the officer, who considered it
an act of intimidation. “No political leader, no matter how powerful, has the
right to threaten police officers. The system must run within the framework of
the law,” Athawale stated while addressing the media.
Interestingly, Athawale also mentioned that Ajit Pawar later
realized his mistake and admitted to using inappropriate language.
He advised Pawar to be cautious in the future, emphasizing that leaders must
maintain dignity while interacting with government officials. “It is good that
the Deputy CM accepted his mistake, but such incidents should not be repeated,”
Athawale added.
The revelation has sparked mixed reactions. While opposition
parties are demanding strict action, Pawar’s supporters argue that his
admission of fault shows political maturity. However, critics insist that
merely accepting the mistake is not enough and that accountability must follow.
This controversy comes at a time when Maharashtra’s
coalition government is already facing pressure on multiple fronts. With the
matter gaining traction in both media and political circles, it remains to be
seen whether further action will be initiated or if the issue will fade as just
another political storm.
