Mumbai Metro 2A and 7 will now run till 12 midnight | Train every 6 minutes | Ganesh Utsav Special – RD News Network

In a welcome move for Mumbai
commuters, the Mumbai
Metro Lines 2A and 7 will now operate extended services until 12 midnight,
ensuring smoother travel during the festive rush of Ganesh Utsav. This special
arrangement comes as lakhs of devotees prepare to visit pandals across the
city, where public transport demand is expected to peak.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA)
announced that trains on both lines will run every 6 minutes, significantly
reducing waiting times for passengers. The decision has been taken to provide
safe, reliable, and convenient travel, especially during late-night hours when
devotees return home after visiting Ganesh mandals.
Metro Line 2A connects Dahisar to DN Nagar, while Line 7
runs from Dahisar East to Gundavali. Together, they form a vital backbone for
commuters in the western suburbs, easing pressure on already crowded local
trains and roads. The extension of services till midnight is expected to
benefit office-goers, students, and families celebrating the festival alike.
Authorities have also increased security personnel, crowd
management teams, and on-ground staff to ensure passenger safety during the
extended hours. Additional ticket counters and helpdesks will remain
operational to handle the festive footfall.
Speaking about the initiative, MMRDA officials said the move
was part of their effort to make public transport more accessible during
cultural and religious festivals.
With Ganesh Utsav being
one of Mumbai’s most celebrated festivals, this extension is seen as both a
convenience for citizens and a step towards promoting public transport usage.
