MLC 'vote scam' in Bihar? Tejashwi Yadav shows two EPIC IDs of his MP wife and husband – RD News Network

A fresh political storm has erupted in Bihar with
allegations of an MLC
‘vote scam’ after RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav presented two voter
identity cards (EPIC IDs) linked to his wife, Rajya Sabha MP Rachel Jha, and
her husband, sparking controversy across the state. The incident has raised
sharp questions about electoral transparency and the credibility of Bihar’s
election machinery.
According to Tejashwi Yadav, both EPIC IDs carry identical
personal details but are registered in different constituencies. He alleged
that this glaring inconsistency points to a larger manipulation of the voter
database ahead of the crucial MLC elections. “How can one person hold two valid
EPIC IDs? This is a clear violation of electoral law and exposes the loopholes
in the system,” Yadav said during a press conference in Patna.
The revelation has fueled a heated exchange between the
ruling NDA alliance and the opposition RJD. While Yadav has demanded immediate
investigation and accountability from the Election Commission, JD(U) and BJP
leaders have dismissed the allegations as political theatrics aimed at
diverting attention from internal challenges within the RJD.
Election experts note that duplicate EPIC IDs can severely
impact the fairness of elections if not addressed promptly. The Election
Commission of India has mechanisms to detect and delete duplicate entries, but
critics argue the process remains flawed and vulnerable to misuse.
For now, the controversy has added another layer of tension
to Bihar’s already charged political climate. With the MLC elections
approaching, opposition leaders plan to intensify their campaign against
what they call “systemic vote manipulation.” Whether the Election Commission
initiates corrective measures will be closely watched in the coming weeks.
