Now the Enemies Will Not Be Spared! Indigenous ATAGS Cannon Inducted into the Army

In a landmark moment for India’s defense capabilities, the indigenous Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) has been officially inducted into the Indian Army, marking a significant leap towards self-reliance in military technology under the 'Make in India' initiative.

Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with Indian industry partners, the ATAGS is a next-generation 155mm x 52 caliber towed artillery gun that boasts superior range, accuracy, and rapid-fire capabilities compared to existing systems. It is capable of firing shells up to 48 kilometers, giving Indian forces a decisive edge in long-range battlefield engagements.

The induction ceremony was held with full military honors, symbolizing India’s confidence in home-grown defense systems. The ATAGS will significantly strengthen India’s artillery regiments, particularly in forward and high-altitude areas where modern and mobile firepower is essential.

Designed with advanced communication systems, auto-loading mechanisms, and night-firing capabilities, ATAGS is also the world’s only gun capable of firing six consecutive rounds in burst mode. These features make it not only one of the most powerful but also one of the most efficient artillery systems in its class.

With increasing regional threats and border tensions, the induction of this state-of-the-art weapon sends a clear message — India is ready to defend its borders with strength and precision. This deployment also reduces India’s dependence on foreign artillery systems, which have long formed the backbone of its ground-based firepower.

Officials from the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Army emphasized that this is just the beginning of a broader push toward defense modernization. More indigenous weapon systems are expected to follow, further empowering India's armed forces and supporting domestic defense manufacturing.

RD News Network will continue to bring you the latest updates on India's defense innovations, strategic deployments, and military modernization. With ATAGS now in action, India stands taller and stronger — prepared to meet any threat with unmatched firepower.
