Jyoti Malhotra Travelled to Kerala Using Government Money? RTI Report is Shocking!
In a revelation that has sparked widespread concern, a
recent Right to Information (RTI) report has exposed the misuse of government
funds by senior journalist Jyoti Malhotra. According to official records
obtained through RTI, Malhotra allegedly used public money to finance her
personal travel to Kerala — a trip that was not connected to any government
assignment or official duty.
The RTI application, filed by an independent citizen
journalist, sought details of expenses covered by public funds in the past year
under the name of Jyoti Malhotra. The response from the concerned department
revealed flight tickets, hotel accommodations, and travel allowances sanctioned
for a trip to Kerala that lacked any official agenda. What’s more, there was no
accompanying government file, official documentation, or assignment record to
justify the expenses.
Public accountability advocates are raising serious
questions about how such an expense was approved without due diligence. “If
senior journalists with influence can get their personal trips funded under the
radar, it erodes public trust in both the media and the government systems,”
said a transparency watchdog member who reviewed the RTI findings.
The RD News Network
reached out to Jyoti Malhotra and the concerned department for their comments.
While the department has remained tight-lipped, Malhotra has not yet issued a
public statement.
This incident highlights the growing need for stronger
financial scrutiny and ethical standards for individuals holding positions of
influence. The misuse of government funds — no matter how small — undermines
the principles of transparency and public service.
As public outrage grows, watchdog groups are demanding a
full investigation and recovery of the misused funds. Stay with RD News Network
