Huge Crowd of Tourists in Ramnagar | Road Jammed, People Forced to Walk
Ramnagar, a gateway to the famous Jim Corbett National
Park, witnessed a massive influx of tourists this weekend, causing
severe traffic congestion across major roads. The town, known for its scenic
beauty and wildlife tourism, was overwhelmed as thousands of visitors poured in
for a weekend getaway.
The sudden spike in footfall led to complete traffic
gridlock in key areas such as the main market road, Garjiya Temple route, and
near the entry points to Corbett Park. Vehicles were stuck for hours, and
frustrated travelers had no choice but to abandon their vehicles and walk long
distances, some carrying luggage and children on foot.
Local authorities struggled to manage the situation, with
limited traffic personnel available and no pre-planned diversions in place.
"We weren't prepared for such a huge crowd. The roads are narrow and not
built to handle this volume," said a local official on duty.
Shopkeepers and hoteliers expressed mixed feelings. While
business boomed due to the large number of tourists, the chaos on the streets
created discomfort for both visitors and residents. Several tourists voiced
their disappointment on social media, stating that poor management overshadowed
the beauty of their trip.
This incident has
raised serious concerns about infrastructure readiness in tourist-heavy
regions. Local residents are demanding better planning, improved road
infrastructure, and stricter crowd control measures during peak seasons.
As the tourist season continues, authorities must act
swiftly to avoid repeated chaos in the coming weeks. Ramnagar
has always been a jewel for Uttarakhand tourism, but overcrowding without
proper control threatens to turn this paradise into a nightmare for visitors
and locals alike.
